On the off chance that people actually come to this page I may as well alert you to the fact that I will be doing another radio show on WFMU very very early this Monday morning, the 26th. I'll be on from 3am to 6am, in the "Rotating Host" timeslot. Somehow it seems like Sunday night when the show starts and Monday morning when it ends.

WFMU broadcasts at 91.1 in NYC and vicinity, 90.1 in the Hudson Valley/Catskills region of New York State, and streaming online from anywhere at wfmu.org.

If you can't tune in live -- and really, how could I expect you to listen at such an ungodly hour -- you can check out my playlists and/or archives online.  You'll also find past shows at that location. Well, just the one show at the moment, but watch it grow!

Also, keep an eye out for possible Corpse Grinders gigs in August and September. Details will be posted as they become available.

Hi everyone,

I'm thrilled beyond words (well, beyond the words that appear in this
email) to be telling you that this weekend I'm doing my first solo radio
show on WFMU! I'll be occupying this week's Rotating Hosts slot during the
Sunday (July 4) overnight. So technically it's Monday morning, July 5,
from 3am to 6am.

Now, kindly stop groaning about the time and consider these important facts:

1. If you are in the USA, you may well be off on Monday.
2. If you are not in the USA, I'll be on at some time other than 3am.
3. Regardless of items (1) and (2) above, my show will be archived a day or
two after it airs, and you can listen to it online at your leisure.

Here's how to listen:

- in the NYC/NJ area, listen over the air at 91.1FM
- in the Hudson Valley/Catskills area, listen over the air at 90.1FM
- from anywhere in the world, including the above locations, listen
online by going to
http://www.wfmu.org/ and clicking on one of the
streaming audio links at the top of the page
- go to
http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/ED later on Monday or Tuesday (or
anytime thereafter) and click on the archive link that will be on that
page. The playlist will be posted there as well.

I hope you can tune in, either in real time or via the archive later on!

Evan

P.S. - if you'd rather not receive occasional emails about my drumming or
DJing activities just let me know, and I will remove your name from my list
with no questions asked.

P.P.S. - for those of you not familiar with WFMU, it's a completely
independent listener-supported free-form station. for more information,
check out this link.

Hi everyone,

I'm writing to let you know about an exciting show I'm doing this Friday, June 4, at the Continental: I'll be playing drums with the Corpse Grinders, the legendary mid-70s NYC punk band!

The Corpse Grinders were formed by bassist Arthur "Killer" Kane and
guitarist Rick Rivets, high school pals who founded the New York Dolls in
1970 or so (Rivets was subsequently replaced by Sylvain Sylvain before the
Dolls really took off). After the Dolls, Rivets went on to form the Brats
(who did some shows around town headlining over a little-known band called
Kiss) and then the Corpse Grinders. Kane's not involved in this show -- I guess he's busy with the Dolls reunion -- but the original Corpse Grinders singer is on board, in addition to Rivets.

The Corpse Grinders have been described as "primitive glam punk in the vein
of early New York Dolls and the Voidoids; an essential chapter in the
history of N.Y.C. punk rock" (All Music Guide) and "a trivial footnote to
New York's new wave underground... a useless hard rock group" (Trouser
Press). Their best song is called "Mental Moron" -- you be the judge.

Also on the bill are a couple of other Bands With One Person (or brother
of) From Really Famous Bands. I just checked the Continental's web site and
it looks like we're on first, so get there early (and then go to one of the
other shows that night, if you want -- I recommend the Dot Dash show at
Siberia).

Here are the details:

12:45 Stop, with Mickey Leigh
12:10 Turbo ACs
11:35 The Bullys
11:00 Cyclones, with Jeff Magnum
10:25 The Kowalskis
9:50 The Basicks
9:15 Corpse Grinders, with yours truly. Oh yeah, and that Dolls guy.

Friday, June 4
Continental, 3rd Ave and St. Marks.
Hope to see you there!

Evan

see, I used to have news here. then isyndicate went belly-up, or started charging, or got bought, or something. they sent me an email, i ignored it, then the next thing i knew -- no news was news. so i just had nothing on here for a few months, and then someone suggested i use blogger to manage my Gallery of “Misused” Quotation Marks, which I haven't updated in something like a year and a half (!). and a little while after that i was on this site reading up on this whole bootleg craze and i noticed that was set up as a blog. so i started thinking 'maybe there's something to this after all' and decided to make this into a blog page and then maybe start using it for the Gallery once i feel like i'm comfortable with it.

and that's my story. for now.
